Biography
Russ Goodman is a Republican state senator representing District 8 in the Georgia State Senate, which includes Atkinson, Clinch, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, and Pierce counties, as well as part of Ware County. He has served since 2020 and chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, while also serving on the committees for Natural Resources and the Environment, Public Safety, and Retirement, and as an ex-officio member of Appropriations. A farmer and businessman, he co-owns Cogdell Berry Farm, Great American Cobbler Company, and EnviroSpec; he previously led the Clinch County Farm Bureau and served on the Georgia Fruits and Vegetable Growers Association board, and was appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia Development Authority in 2015. Notable legislative actions include co-sponsoring S.B. 390 in 2024 to withhold funding from libraries affiliated with the American Library Association. He lives in Cogdell with his wife, Carra Crumbley, and sons J.R. and Alec, and remains active on the Clinch County Farm Bureau, Georgia Blueberry Commission, and Georgia Berry Exchange boards.
