Russ Dumais

Russell Dumais is an American politician and businessman who represents the Belknap 6th district of the New Hampshire House of Representatives as a Republican member. He is a long-time resident of Gilford, where he has lived for 56 years.

Dumais is described as a conservative who has demonstrated commitment to supporting county institutions during his tenure in the legislature. He has been active in his community beyond his legislative role, serving on various local boards and commissions.

Political Experience

Dumais has served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives during two separate periods: from 2014 to 2016 and again from 2022 to the present. His district encompasses Gilford, Gilmanton, and Ward 2 of Laconia.

Prior to his recent legislative service, Dumais was a member of the Gunstock Area Commission for five years. He also served his community as a selectman, a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment , and on the Planning Board.

Legislative Positions

During his recent term in the legislature, Dumais has been notably active on education policy. He has voted in favor of expanding the Education Freedom Account program, supporting bills including HB 367, HB 464, HB 1561, HB 1634, HB 1665, and HB 1677. He also voted against HB 1512, which would have limited the Education Freedom Account program to a budget cap.
