Rudy Yakym

Biography

Rudy Yakym is a Republican representative serving Indiana's 2nd Congressional District. A fourth-generation Hoosier, he was born and raised in South Bend. He replaced the late Representative Jackie Walorski in Congress and is currently in his second term.

Yakym is a conservative businessman and longtime Republican activist with deep roots in North Central Indiana. Before entering Congress, he worked in the private sector as Director of Growth Initiatives at Kem Krest, where he led efforts to streamline supply chains and drive economic development. He has also been involved with his family's company, Cyberlink International, an internet service provider.

Yakym is married to Sallyann and has three children: Elle, Rudy IV, and Eliza. He resides in Granger and serves as Head Usher at New Life Baptist Church. He also serves as Board Chair of the Boys & Girls Club of St. Joe County.

Political Experience

Yakym has held several influential positions throughout his political career:

  • Current Committee Assignment: Serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he was instrumental in crafting the tax portion of the One Big Beautiful Bill
  • Previous Committee Assignment: Served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee during his first term, where he served as Vice Chair of the Aviation Authorization Act and led a bipartisan effort to address the national air traffic controller shortage
  • Notable Legislation: Championed the Reducing Bureaucracy to Uplift Families Act and the bipartisan Improper Payments Transparency Act, both aimed at improving federal efficiency and supporting working families
  • State Appointments: Was twice appointed to serve on the Indiana Judicial Nomination Commission and Judicial Qualifications Commission; appointed to the Indiana Finance Authority in 2020
  • Campaign Experience: Served as finance director for Representative Jackie Walorski's 2012 campaign
  • Political Activism: Long-time Republican contributor to the South Bend Tribune and advocate for pro-growth, fiscally responsible policies
