Biography
Roy Klopfenstein is a Republican state representative serving Ohio's 82nd House District, which includes Paulding, Putnam, and Van Wert counties, and the southern portion of Defiance County. A lifelong farmer with over 43 years of experience, he has held key committee roles, including Chair of the House Agriculture Committee and Vice Chair of the House Energy Committee, alongside memberships on Transportation and Local Government committees. He previously served as Paulding County Commissioner from 2013 to 2022, and is a strong supporter of 4-H and FFA. Married to Deborah for over 40 years, they have four sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren, and attend Apostolic Christian Church in Latty.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Wayne Trace High School; earned a degree in agriculture from Purdue University.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Ohio House in 2022 after winning the Republican primary and general election; sworn in January 2023 and currently in his second term. Former Paulding County Commissioner ; involved in agricultural organizations like Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association, Ohio Farm Bureau, and past leadership in USDA Farm Service Agency and OSU Extension committees. Candidate for reelection in 2026.
