Biography
Roy Daryl Adams is a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing District 62, which includes parishes in East Baton Rouge and East Feliciana. Elected in a special election on March 30, 2019, succeeding Kenny Havard, he initially ran as an independent before switching to the Democratic Party in April 2023; he is eligible to serve through the 2028 term. Adams is a businessman, founding and owning Adams Enterprises, a grocery store, and working as an independent contractor for Capital City Press in Baton Rouge. He resides in Jackson, Louisiana, is married to Tanya, has four children and three grandchildren, and is a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Jackson High School; attended Southwest Mississippi College and Northeastern University in Monroe, Louisiana.
Political Experience: Serves on the Administration of Criminal Justice Committee, Appropriations Committee , Retirement Committee, and Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget; previously on Health and Welfare, House and Governmental Affairs, and Transportation, Highways, and Public Works committees. Adams is a member of the Capital Region Legislative Delegation, Democratic Caucus, and Louisiana Rural Caucus. Notable positions include voting in favor of advancing House Bill 545 in 2024, which sought to remove legal protections for obscenity from teachers and librarians in public schools.
