Biography
Senator Ronnie A. Sabb
Ronnie A. Sabb is a Democratic member of the South Carolina State Senate representing District 32, which encompasses Berkeley, Charleston, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg counties. He was born on September 2, 1958, in Greeleyville, South Carolina, where he currently resides. Sabb is the son of John Earl and Annie Ree Sabb Gamble and is a widower with one child, Whitney A.
As a professional attorney, Sabb is the president and chief executive officer of the Sabb Law Group, with offices in Kingstree and Lake City, South Carolina. His legal practice concentrates in personal injury cases, including motor vehicle collisions, tractor trailer wrecks, train wrecks, and job-related injuries. He has represented thousands of clients throughout his career.
Education
Sabb graduated from C.E. Murray High School in 1976. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Voorhees College in 1980 and was later inducted into the Voorhees College Hall of Fame. He obtained his law degree from the University of Florida in 1987 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar and the United States District Court in 1988.
Political Experience
Sabb began his legislative career when he was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives for District 101 in November 2010, serving until 2014. In November 2014, he was elected to the South Carolina State Senate for District 32, making him the first African-American Senator for this district.
In the 2020 election, Sabb ran for re-election and won the Democratic primary nomination with over 70% of the vote, demonstrating strong constituent support.
Sabb has held several prestigious positions throughout his career, including Assistant Solicitor , General Counsel for Santee Electric Cooperative , and Board of Governors positions with the South Carolina Association for Justice and the South Carolina Bar. He was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been a member of the Williamsburg County Bar Association, American Association for Justice, and National Bar Association. Additionally, he served as a former member of the Williamsburg County School Board and volunteers as a basketball coach for the Pee Dee All-Stars AAU Girls Basketball Team. Sabb is a deacon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Greeleyville.
