Biography

Representative G. Roni Green

Gwendolyn Veronica Green, born June 9, 1959, is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 190th District. She has served in this position since 2023 and previously held the seat in 2020.

Green began her career as a human services caseworker with the Glendale County Assistance Office, where she worked for nearly two decades to help Philadelphia's most vulnerable residents access pathways out of poverty. Her experience in this role deeply informed her understanding of systemic causes of economic, social, and political inequality.

Political Experience

Green has been a lifelong community and labor organizer with over 30 years of experience. She rose through the ranks of Service Employees International Union Local 668, serving as Shop Steward and holding positions including Philadelphia Chapter 12 Chair and statewide Secretary/Treasurer based in Harrisburg.

In February 2020, Green won a special election to fill the 190th District seat after the previous representative faced legal issues. Although she lost the 2020 general primary to fellow Democrat Amen Brown, she successfully ran for the seat again in 2022 after redistricting moved Brown to the 10th District.

Notable Positions and Achievements

Green serves on multiple Pennsylvania House committees: Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Housing and Community Development, Human Services, Labor and Industry, and State Government. She also holds several community roles, including board member of the Ridge-Allegheny-Hunting Park Civic Association, the Mann Center, and the Please Touch Museum, as well as serving as Treasurer of the Philadelphia House Delegation and as a Democratic committeewoman.

Her legislative priorities include fighting for living wages and workers' rights, affordable housing to preserve neighborhoods, sensible gun reform, equitable community and economic development, and criminal justice reform with a focus on ending mass incarceration.
