Biography
Ron Stephens is a Republican state representative for Georgia House District 164, based in Savannah. Born July 3, 1954, he is a longtime pharmacist with over 46 years in the profession and has served in the Georgia House since 1997.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Armstrong State University and Mercer University with a degree in Pharmacy.
- Professional Background: Worked as a pharmacist from 1978 to 1998; served on the Garden City Council starting in 1991.
- Political Career: Elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1997 ; reelected multiple times, including unopposed in 2004 and narrowly in 2018 and 2020 . Currently serves 27 years in the House.

- Chairman of the House Economic Development & Tourism Committee.
- Serves on Appropriations, Appropriations Subcommittee on Health, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Rules, Urban Affairs, Ways & Means, and Special Committee on Resource Management.
- Co-author of Georgia's first floating homestead exemption , freezing property taxes for homeowners in over 50 taxing districts.
- Supported 10% state income tax cut, full funding of Quality Basic Education formula , and tourism initiatives; received 2017 Armstrong University Hero award and 2003 State Tourism Champion of the Year.
- Appointed to Georgia Tourism Foundation in 2013 by Governor Nathan Deal.
