Biography

Senator Ron Latz is a Democratic-Farmer-Labor member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 46 in Hennepin County. Born on August 9, 1963, he resides in St. Louis Park with his wife, Julia Shmidov Latz, and their three children. He grew up in Golden Valley and attended Hopkins Public Schools. An attorney by occupation, Latz has deep roots in the district and has served on community boards including the St. Louis Park Community Education Advisory Council, Metropolitan Interfaith Council on Affordable Housing, and Anti-Defamation League’s National Commission and Civil Rights Committee. Notable achievements include chairing the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, serving on the Commerce and Consumer Protection and Finance Committees, leading on gun violence prevention , securing a statewide smoking ban, advocating for healthcare resources, and supporting infrastructure investments in roads, bridges, and public transit.
