Biography
Ron Kind is an American lawyer and politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district from 1997 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was known for his bipartisan approach and leadership on various policy issues. Born on March 16, 1963, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Kind was the third of five children in his family. His mother, Greta, worked as the assistant director of personnel in the La Crosse School District, and his father, Elroy, had a 35-year career as a telephone repairman and union leader at the La Crosse Telephone Company.
After announcing his retirement from Congress in August 2021, Kind joined the law firm Arnold & Porter as a senior policy advisor in February 2023. In recognition of his contributions to U.S.-UK relations, he was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2023. ,
