Ron Kim is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly representing District 40 in Flushing, Queens. A longtime resident of the area, he is the first Korean-American elected to the New York State Legislature. First elected in 2012 and re-elected to subsequent terms , Kim has focused on quality education, local school funding, small business support, and community issues in downtown Flushing.

Notable achievements include leading opposition to Amazon HQ2, sparking national discussions on corporate subsidies and inspiring an inter-state compact among nearly 20 state representatives to end "race-to-the-bottom" competitions for mega-corporations. He collaborated with Governor Cuomo on nail salon industry reforms for safer conditions in over 4,000 businesses, sponsored bills like A.7642 , A.8050 , and A.6530 , and pushed for nursing home transparency and repeal of COVID-19 immunity amid Cuomo controversies. His latest initiative, the Inclusive Value Ledger , aims to create a digital platform rewarding undervalued work like carework.
