Biography
Roland Pederson
Roland Pederson is a Republican state senator representing Oklahoma Senate District 19. A second-generation farmer and educator, Pederson is a lifelong resident of the Burlington area in Alfalfa County. He and his wife Terry have spent over 40 years building their family farm business, which his Danish immigrant father established near Burlington. The farm primarily produces cattle, wheat, and alfalfa.
Pederson is known for his commitment to faith, integrity, and family values. He has been deeply involved in community service, including 20 years on the Burlington Cooperative Association board, 30 years on the Alfalfa County Farm Bureau board, and past presidency of the Burlington Lions Club. He also served on the Alfalfa Electric Cooperative Round-Up board and was appointed to the Agriculture Diversification and Enhancement Board.
His service extends to the military, with experience in the Air Force Reserves, which informs his understanding of issues affecting Vance Air Force Base in his district. Pederson is pro-life and pro-second amendment and has received statewide recognition, including the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year award and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award.
Education
Pederson earned both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Political Experience
Pederson has served as an Oklahoma State Senator since 2016. As Vice Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Wildlife Committee, he has championed advancements for Oklahoma's agriculture industry and worked to remove burdensome regulations on transportation and construction to promote job growth. He has also authored legislation improving utility infrastructure throughout his district and supported measures to enhance rural healthcare quality and accessibility.
His legislative priorities focus on education, small business, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure—areas of particular importance to District 19 constituents.
