Roland Gutierrez is a Democratic Texas State Senator representing District 19, which includes parts of San Antonio and surrounding areas. Born on September 1, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, to Mexican immigrants, he is an attorney and founder of the Gutierrez Law Firm, specializing in immigration law. He lives in San Antonio with his wife Sarah and daughters Izabella and Victoria. Gutierrez has been a prominent advocate for gun violence prevention, particularly after the 2022 Uvalde school shooting, and ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in the 2024 Democratic primary. Notable achievements include establishing the National Warrior Resiliency Center for PTSD treatment, securing funding for a new San Antonio State Hospital, protecting Texas military bases from closure, building the first south-side library in over 30 years, and creating mental health initiatives like the Farmer Suicide Prevention Hotline.
