Biography
Representative Rodney Lyons

Rodney S. Lyons Sr. was born and raised in Harvey, Louisiana. He has established himself as a community-focused leader with deep roots in the Westbank area of Jefferson Parish. Before entering politics, Lyons spent more than two decades working for the Jefferson Parish Public School System. He also served as president of the Woodmere Civic Association, where he led initiatives focused on neighborhood development, public safety, and youth engagement.
Education
Lyons earned a degree in criminal justice from Southern University at New Orleans. He also completed coursework at Delgado Community College and holds certification as a John Maxwell Certified Leadership Trainer through the American Public Works Association.
Political Experience
Lyons was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2015 and has been re-elected since then. His legislative priorities center on education, public safety, economic opportunity, and workforce development. He is particularly focused on fair treatment of working people, support for small businesses, and youth engagement programs.
