Biography
Rodney Davis is a former Republican U.S. Representative for Illinois' 13th congressional district, serving five terms from 2012 to 2023. A bipartisan problem solver, he advanced policies on infrastructure, agriculture, national security, military support, and health care cost reduction, including cancer prevention inspired by his wife Shannon's 24-year battle as a colon cancer survivor. In 2017, he survived the Congressional Baseball Game shooting, later advocating against dangerous political rhetoric. Currently, he serves as Head of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce since August 2024, leading Capitol Hill engagement for pro-growth policies. Born January 5, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa, he and Shannon have three adult children.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Taylorville High School and earned a political science degree from Millikin University . Served as a Resident Fellow at Harvard University.
- Political Experience: Worked 16 years as projects director for Congressman John Shimkus, aiding Illinois residents with government red tape and economic development. Elected to U.S. House in 2012; served as Ranking Member of the House Administration Committee and Deputy Whip. Recognized for effective cross-aisle legislation; lost 2022 reelection.
