Biography
Rod Furniss is a Republican member of the Idaho House of Representatives serving District 31B since 2022 . A sixth-generation Idahoan and businessman in insurance and investments, he is known for his leadership in financial professional organizations and committee roles including Vice Chair of Environment, Energy and Technology, and member of Appropriations and Finance-Appropriations.
Born in Rigby, Idaho, Rod Furniss grew up in Menan and graduated from Rigby High School, where he excelled in basketball , football , and track. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a missionary in Argentina. He married Jan Furniss, with whom he has five children and eight grandchildren. Furniss has owned businesses in life insurance, healthcare insurance, and real estate development since 1986, earning designations as Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant. He has held leadership roles such as past president of the Idaho Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Idaho Falls Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Idaho Falls Society of Financial Service Professionals, Idaho Falls Estate Planning Council, District 251 Jefferson Education Foundation, and served as Jefferson County precinct committeeman and District Chair of Finance for Boy Scouts of America. Notable achievements include qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table, Court of the Table, and Top of the Table, along with National Sales Achievement and National Quality Awards.

Political Experience:
- Elected to Idaho House of Representatives, District 35B , defeating Jerry L. Browne with 83.7% of the vote in 2018; reelected in 2020.
- Elected to District 31B , now in his fourth term.
- Key committee positions: Vice Chair, Environment, Energy and Technology; Member, Appropriations , Business, Finance-Appropriations, Economic Outlook and Revenue Assessment; also serves on Property Taxes & Revenue Expenditures, Teachers Health Insurance Group, Your Health Idaho Exchange Board, Idaho Individual High Risk Reinsurance Pool Board, Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs, and Idaho Petroleum Storage Tank Fund.
- Strong advocate for Second Amendment rights, healthcare, education, and economic growth, reflecting his business background and Idaho pioneer heritage.
