Biography
Robyn Kennedy is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts State Senate representing the First Worcester District, which includes parts of the city of Worcester such as Wards 1, 2, 3, 4 , 6 , and 7 . Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was elected in November 2022 and assumed office on January 4, 2023. Kennedy champions the care economy , workforce investment, regional public transportation, and reducing racial and health inequities. Notable achievements include leading key legislation to improve residents' lives in her first year.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester; earned a Bachelor of Arts from Assumption University in 2003; obtained a Master of Public Administration from Clark University in 2021.
- Political Experience: Served as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Lt. Governor Tim Murray; from 2013 to 2016, was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Children, Youth and Families at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services; since 2017, served as associate executive director and most recently Chief Operating Officer at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts. Elected to the Massachusetts Senate in 2022.
