Robyn R. Essex is a Republican representative for Kansas House District 78, serving since January 9, 2023. She is also the Ward 1 Councilmember for the City of Olathe, Kansas, with a term from January 2024 to January 2028, having been elected in March 2022. A long-time Olathe resident of nearly 40 years, she is married to Steve Essex, a middle school teacher, and they have three grown sons. Her professional background includes corporate training, early childhood education, and government relations. Notable community involvement includes serving as a planning commissioner, emergency response team member, Rotarian, Sunday school teacher, and youth mentor for 28 years at College Church of the Nazarene. She participated in the Olathe Civic Academy, Olathe Public Schools Citizen Academy, and Eisenhower Leadership Series, and is a graduate of the Darden School of Business Emerging Legislative Leaders Program.
