Biography
Robert Rodriguez is a Democratic member of the Colorado State Senate representing District 32, which covers southwest Denver and a small part of Aurora. Elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, he currently serves as Majority Leader since September 8, 2023, following Dominick Moreno's resignation. Notable achievements include prime sponsoring the Colorado AI Act in 2024, the country's first legislative framework for high-risk AI systems, and prior roles as Assistant Majority Leader, Chair of the Business, Labor & Technology Committee and Legislative Audit Committee, and Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee. He focuses on criminal justice reform, affordable housing, living wages, health care, personal privacy, and free preschool.
Born in New Mexico, Rodriguez moved to Colorado at age four, raised in a working-class, politically active family, and lives in Virginia Village with his wife Deidre and pets.

- Professional Experience: Advanced from mailroom to senior position at a Denver insurance agency; served as director of business management at Independence House, a reentry program for former offenders founded by his father; Vice Chair of Denver Democrats.
