Biography
Robert Bierman is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party representing District 56A in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which includes Apple Valley and parts of Dakota County in the southern Twin Cities metropolitan area. Born on September 29, 1960, he resides in Apple Valley, is married to Ellen, and has two children. A business owner, Bierman was elected in 2018 and has been reelected every two years since, currently serving his fourth term.
Notable achievements include advocating against the opioid epidemic, authoring legislation requiring state approval for the Fairview-Sanford health systems merger to protect healthcare costs and access, funding electric vehicle charging stations in state parks via Xcel Energy fees, and sponsoring bills for home weatherization preparation.
He holds key committee positions as Co-Chair of Health Finance and Policy, and serves on Ways and Means and Education Policy.
