Biography
Rob Sampson is a Republican State Senator representing Connecticut's 16th District, which includes Cheshire, Prospect, Southington, Waterbury, and Wolcott. Re-elected to a fourth term in 2024, he serves as Senior Deputy Republican Leader and Policy and Screening Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus. He is Ranking Member on the Government Administration & Elections Committee, Government Oversight Committee, Housing Committee, and Labor & Public Employees Committee. Notable achievements include recognition as a “Legislative Champion of the Year” by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities in 2021 for promoting government transparency and budget accountability. Sampson is a vocal advocate for individual liberties, election integrity, limited government, and economic growth.
Education and Political Experience
Sampson studied marketing at Central Connecticut State University and works professionally as a real estate and insurance agent. His political career began in the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he represented the 80th District for four terms from 2011 to 2018, winning elections in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016. He was first elected to the State Senate in 2018, with re-elections in 2022 and 2024; his current term ends in 2027.
