Biography
Robert W. Kauffman is a Republican representing Pennsylvania's 89th House District, which includes Greene, Guilford, and Hamilton townships, as well as Chambersburg Borough in Franklin County. First elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2024, he serves as Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, overseeing issues like criminal justice reform, firearms, family law, law enforcement, and juvenile justice. He also sits on the House Consumer Affairs, Gaming Oversight, and Tourism and Recreational Development Committees. Notable positions include opposition to legalizing adult-use cannabis and involvement in post-2020 election certification challenges, including observing Arizona's Maricopa County audit; he endorsed Doug Mastriano for governor in 2022. Kauffman lives in Scotland with his wife Niki; they have four children and two granddaughters. He is active in the Greene Township Lions Club, Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Franklin County Historical Society, Franklin County Republican Committee, National Rifle Association, and Bethel Assembly of God Church.
