Robert J. "Rob" Harris is a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 36 in Spartanburg County. Born on June 2, 1965, he is a family man, married to Janice Harris for over 37 years, father of ten, and grandfather of nine. A Christian who homeschooled his family for 30 years, Harris works as an operating room registered nurse and is known as a far-right conservative and member of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus. He assumed office on December 6, 2022, after defeating incumbent Rita Allison in the 2022 Republican primary and running unopposed in the general election. Notable achievements include sponsoring the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023 , which sought to deem life beginning at conception and make abortion punishable by up to 30 years in prison or death. Education and Political Experience

His political experience began post-2020 election through grassroots activism; he became a Republican Precinct Executive Committeeman, founded ActionSC.org to influence community decisions, and led door-to-door canvassing efforts. In 2021, he joined ReOrg and helped challenge county GOP leadership. His family knocked on 3,500 doors in nine weeks to support his 2022 campaign, successfully ousting a 23-year incumbent who chaired the Education Committee.
