Robert D. Clifton is a Republican Assembly Member representing Legislative District 12 in New Jersey, which includes parts of Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties. A lifelong resident of Matawan, he has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2012 and holds the position of assistant minority leader . He previously served as Mayor of Matawan from 1996 to 2005 and as a Monmouth County Freeholder from 2005 to 2011, including as director in 2011. Clifton works as Director of Government and Community Affairs for Comcast Cable Corporation and currently serves on the Budget Committee, Housing and Community Development Committee, and Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee. He has demonstrated support for environmental issues, including renewable energy development, open space preservation, and greenhouse gas regulations. Clifton and his wife, Tracy, have two sons.
