Biography
Representative Rob Brooks
Rob Brooks is a Republican state representative from Wisconsin who represents the 60th Assembly District, which includes parts of Ozaukee and Washington counties. Born on July 13, 1965, in Rockford, Illinois, Brooks has been a resident of Saukville, Wisconsin, and has established himself as a prominent figure in local and state government.
Brooks is married to his wife, Dawn, and together they have two children: Robert, a West Point graduate and former pilot in the United States Army, and Jessica, a nurse at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. The Brooks family has maintained strong community ties throughout his political career.
Education
Brooks attended the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse from 1983 to 1986, where he completed his undergraduate studies.
Political Experience
Brooks was inaugurated to the Wisconsin State Assembly in January 2015 and has represented the 60th Assembly District since that time. Before his election to the state assembly, he served extensively in local government, spending 13 years on the Ozaukee County Board, including 9 years as chairman. He was first elected to the county board in 2002 and was elected chairman by his colleagues in 2004, just two years into his tenure.
During his leadership of the county board, Brooks achieved significant accomplishments, including reducing county staffing by 18 percent, keeping the county levy 26 percent lower than the Consumer Price Index, reducing the size of the county board itself, and achieving an AAA credit rating for the county.
In the state assembly, Brooks has held several notable leadership positions, including serving as Assistant Majority Leader from 2017 to 2019. He currently serves as Chair of the Committee on Housing and Real Estate and Vice Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means. He also holds membership on the Health, Aging and Long-Term Care Committee, Committee on Sporting Heritage, Committee on State Affairs, and Committee on Corrections.
Brooks is a self-employed businessman with over 30 years of business experience. He operates several enterprises in his district, including a real estate company, rental properties, and restaurants. He maintains an active role in both his businesses and the community while serving as a state legislator.
