Robert S. Bloxom Jr.

Robert Spurgeon Bloxom Jr. was born on February 12, 1963, in Salisbury, Maryland. He is a native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and resides in the Parksley area. Bloxom is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 100th District, which encompasses Accomack and Northampton Counties as well as a portion of Virginia Beach. He has held this seat since February 2014, succeeding Lynwood Lewis.

Beyond his legislative role, Bloxom is a successful businessman and community leader. He owns Shore Tire & Auto in Onley, Virginia, and two NAPA Auto Parts stores located in Onley and Mappsville. He also owns and operates Egret Pointe Seafood Company. Bloxom is an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, serves as a Director of the Economic Development Authority, and is involved with the Onancock Rotary Club.

Bloxom is married to Louise Lankford Hall and has three children: Blaire Gordon, Madison Lankford, and Brantley Edward.

Education

Bloxom graduated from Broadwater Academy in 1981 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Richmond.

Political Experience

As a state delegate, Bloxom serves on several key House committees, including the Privileges and Elections Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee. During the 2022 and 2023 Virginia General Assembly, he was chosen as a budget conferee by the Speaker.

Bloxom has received numerous recognitions for his legislative work. He was named the 2015 Legislative Rookie of the Year by the Virginia Education Association, received the Champion of Economic Development Award in 2019 from the Eastern Shore Economic Development Authority, and was named the 2022 Legislator of the Year by the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation. In 2024, Bloxom was one of five Republican delegates who voted with Democratic colleagues in support of safeguarding same-sex marriage in Virginia.
