Biography
Richard C. “Rip” Sullivan, Jr. is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 6 in Fairfax County . A longtime McLean resident for over 50 years, he is married to Beth, his high school sweetheart from Langley High School, and they have four adult children and six grandchildren. Born on March 14, 1959, Sullivan serves as an attorney and has been a delegate since his first election in 2014. Notable achievements include authoring the Virginia Clean Economy Act to advance clean energy and combat climate change, the "Red Flag" law to prevent gun violence, the Clean Cars bill to promote electric vehicles, and “Jacob’s Law” to strengthen surrogacy rights. He currently chairs the Labor and Commerce Committee’s Energy Subcommittee and serves on the Labor and Commerce, Courts of Justice, Finance , and Rules Committees. His priorities include defending reproductive freedom, expanding healthcare access, promoting clean energy, addressing gun violence, protecting voting rights, and advancing LGBTQ rights.
