Rick Townsend is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 179 since January 9, 2023. He resides in Brunswick, Georgia, and has focused his career on education and community service, working for three decades to support Georgia families. Townsend previously succeeded Don Hogan following redistricting.

Education and Political Experience

Townsend has extensive experience in education, serving as a teacher, coach, career-technology supervisor, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, CEO of a college & career academy, and superintendent across pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in rural, suburban, and economically diverse areas of Georgia. He has volunteered with organizations including Rotary, Lions Club, Boy Scouts, United Way, Morningstar, and the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce. In 2024, he received a legislative score of 57 from the Georgia Republican Assembly.
