Representative Rick Jasperse

Richard Clark "Rick" Jasperse is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 11 since 2010.

Born on July 22, 1956, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Rick Jasperse has lived in Pickens County, Georgia, since 1983 with his wife Marcia, to whom he has been married for over 32 years. They reside on a small farm and previously operated a landscaping business. Jasperse worked for 29 years as a County Agent with the University of Georgia College of Agriculture, retiring in 2009 due to budget reductions; in this role, he educated communities on agriculture, started a local farmer’s market, secured grants, raised over $100,000 for youth scholarships, and developed programs like lamb/livestock and Master Gardener initiatives. He has been active in community service, including coaching little league baseball, serving as President and game announcer for the Pickens High School Tip-Off Club, cooking BBQ for charities, and participating in Rotary Club and the Pickens County GOP.

Notable achievements and positions include Chairman of the House Transportation Committee , service on committees such as Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education, Health, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Regulated Industries, and Rules. Key legislative accomplishments: fully funded K-12 education for the first time in Georgia history, first state income tax cuts, elimination of state income tax for most seniors, and passage of the Heartbeat Bill making adoption more accessible . Awards: GaCarry Legislator of the Year and NRA Defender of Freedom Award.
