Biography
Rick Girdler
Richard A. Girdler was born on May 23, 1955, and is a lifelong resident of Pulaski County, Kentucky. He is a self-employed insurance agent with Shelter Insurance, a position he has held for 32 years. His agency is the largest Shelter Insurance agency in Kentucky. Girdler is married to Sara Ritter, whom he wed in 1977. They have three children—Brandon, Kelly, and Megan—and five grandchildren.
Beyond his professional career, Girdler has been deeply involved in his community through coaching youth sports and serving on sports-affiliated committees. He is also an accomplished pilot, holding an Instrument Rated Pilot Certification. He is a member of the Baptist faith and maintains strong ties to his local church.
Education
Girdler graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1973. He attended Cumberland College on a baseball scholarship. He also completed training through the Lake Cumberland Life Underwriters program and served as an LUTC Teacher .
Political Experience
Girdler has served as a Republican member of the Kentucky State Senate representing the 15th district since 2017. His home city is Somerset, Kentucky. He maintains offices at the State Capitol in Frankfort, where he participates in various Senate committees and legislative initiatives.
