Biography
Richard West is a Republican representing Missouri House District 102, which includes parts of St. Charles and Warren Counties. Elected to his first two-year term in the Missouri House in November 2020, he serves as mayor of New Melle, Missouri, currently in his fourth term, while also owning a small business. Born and raised in St. Louis, he resides in New Melle with his wife of over 30 years, Lori, and their three children: Anthony, Megan, and Tyler. His career highlights include 21 years as a law enforcement officer and criminal investigator, retiring after serving 28 months overseas as an international police advisor in Iraq. Notable legislative efforts in his first year addressed community issues like working animals, homeowner restrictions, college credit transfers, and an optional license plate sticker for drivers who are hard of hearing or deaf. He serves on the House Budget Committee.
