Biography
Richard H. Stuart is a Republican state senator representing Virginia's 25th Senate District, which includes all of Caroline, Essex, King George, King William, Lancaster, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland Counties, along with parts of King and Queen and Spotsylvania Counties. Born on January 6, 1964, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Stuart grew up in the Northern Neck region, where his family has lived for nearly 300 years; he lives on a farm in Montross with his wife, Lisa Kraus Stuart, and their three children. A former U.S. Marine who trained at Parris Island, he served as Westmoreland County Commonwealth’s Attorney, focusing on crime reduction. Notable positions include Chairman of the FOIA Advisory Council, member of the Indigent Defense Commission and Special Committee on Criminal Discovery Rules, and appointments to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and Rappahannock River Basin Commission; he has also held roles on various boards such as the State Water Control Board, Northern Neck Land Conservancy, and former boards for Bay Trust Company and Riverside Tappahannock Hospital.
Education and Political Experience
