Senator Richard Marcellais is a Democratic member of the North Dakota Senate representing District 9 . Born on January 23, 1947 , he resides in Belcourt, North Dakota, and is married to Betty with 2 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Notable achievements include serving as a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran , TMBCI Veteran Service Officer, President of TMCS and NISBA, Chairman of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians , and leadership roles in veterans' organizations such as Vice Commander of American Legion Post #262, VFW Post #4516, and President of North Dakota Native Honor Flight. He is also inducted into the ND Native American Hall of Honor.
