Biography
Rhonda Gaye Butler is a Republican state representative for Louisiana House District 38, covering parts of Evangeline and Rapides parishes. She assumed office on January 13, 2020, after being elected in 2019, and is eligible to serve through 2028. Born and raised in Turkey Creek, Louisiana, she is a businesswoman owning Butler & Company Tree and Storm Recovery and Gobble Gully Paint Ball. Notable achievements include sponsoring 2020 legislation for increased family access to nursing home residents and voting against a 2021 marijuana taxation bill that blocked recreational legalization efforts. She chairs the Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development Committee and the Louisiana Rural Caucus, and serves on committees like Health and Welfare, Joint Medicaid Oversight, and Special Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.
