Biography

Rhonda Burnough is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 77 since her election in 2016. Born on November 2, 1954, she is a retired educator and community advocate who defeated a 16-year incumbent and has since served without opposition. She serves on committees including Economic Development & Tourism, Governmental Affairs, Higher Education, and Small Business Development. Notable achievements include founding community organizations like 500 Men Standing in the GAP and 500 Women Standing in the GAP to promote family and community involvement; creating educational programs such as the DAY ONE initiative and Celebrity Reader program; receiving the 2013 National Community and Service Award and 2012 Gold Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama; and collaborating on "Legacy Letters" to document Black women elected in Clayton County.
