Biography
Senator Rex Wilson ** represents **Senate District 33 in New Mexico, which encompasses parts of Chaves, Lincoln, and Otero counties. A rancher from Ancho, he was appointed to the seat by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in January 2026 to fill the vacancy left by Nicholas Paul's resignation, and he will serve until a successor is elected in November 2026. Notable achievements include being named the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association's 2017 Cattleman of the Year and founding Camp Sierra Blanca at Fort Stanton, a nationally recognized alternative education program for at-risk youth.
Education and Political Experience
Wilson previously served as a Lincoln County commissioner from 1997 to 2003 and as southern region director for Presbyterian Medical Services, overseeing programs in Chaves, Lincoln, and Otero counties. He began his service as a state senator in 2026.
