Biography

Reuven Carlyle is a Democrat who formerly represented Legislative District 36 in the Washington State Senate from 2009 to 2023. Born on August 10, 1965, he served as chair of the Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee from 2016 to 2023 and is recognized as the architect of Washington's comprehensive state-level climate policies, including the Climate Commitment Act , Clean Energy Transformation Act , low carbon fuel standard, Healthy Environment for All Act , and measures on building efficiency, super pollutants, transportation electrification, and more. After leaving office, he founded Earth Finance, a global climate strategy and investment firm, where he serves as Executive Vice President, and he sits on the board of Toptana Technologies.
