About
Reuben D'Silva is a Democratic Assembly Member representing District 28 in the Nevada State Assembly . Born in 1985 in Mumbai, India, he immigrated to the U.S. as a toddler and grew up in northeast Las Vegas from age 6 with his family, which faced mixed immigration statuses. A decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran with awards including the Purple Heart, Navy Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon, he is the first Indian-American to serve in the Nevada Legislature. Elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, he is a high school history teacher at Rancho High School since 2013, where he coaches varsity girls' basketball, advises clubs, and is recognized as an award-winning educator . Notable prior roles include appointments by Sen. Harry Reid to Nevada’s Military Academy Selection Committee and by Councilman Isaac Barron as Trustee for the North Las Vegas Library District . He serves on committees including Education , Government Affairs, and Revenue, and focuses on strengthening education through legislation.
