Biography
Regina Goodwin is a Democratic state senator representing District 11 in the Oklahoma State Senate, covering downtown and north Tulsa as well as parts of Osage County. A native of Tulsa who grew up on historic Greenwood Avenue, she is a professional artist and faithful member of North Peoria Church of Christ. Elected to the Senate in 2024 after winning the Democratic primary, she previously served as a state representative for House District 73 from 2014 to 2024. Goodwin serves as deputy assistant floor leader for the Senate Democratic Caucus and is a member of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Workforce and Tourism. She advocates for public education, economic development, health care, housing, voter access, and criminal justice reform, and led a grassroots effort securing a $1.6 million planning grant under the Biden Infrastructure Act to address the I-244 highway's impact on Greenwood.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Booker T. Washington High School ; BA in Fine Arts from the University of Kansas; completed master’s coursework in Animation at Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois.
- Political Experience: Elected to Oklahoma House in a 2015 special election for District 73; served until 2024. Ran unsuccessfully for Senate District 11 in 2015 but won in 2024. Principal author of bills signed into law, including HB 1357 , HB 3393 , and HB 2253 .
