Regan Deering is a Republican State Representative for Illinois' 88th District, which includes parts of DeWitt, Macon, McLean, and Piatt counties in central Illinois. She was elected in 2024, winning the Republican primary with 68.6% of the vote and running unopposed in the general election, then sworn into the 104th General Assembly in January 2025. A resident of Decatur with her husband Brian and three children, Deering previously ran unsuccessfully for Illinois' 13th congressional district in 2022, served on the Mount Zion School Board since 2023, and has been a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2017. Before politics, she taught elementary science in Chicago, owned a Huntington Learning Center tutoring franchise in Decatur, chaired the Decatur Public Schools Foundation, and served as Board President for the Northeast Community Fund. Notable positions include advocating for parents' rights in education, law enforcement, fiscal responsibility, and family opportunities; she proposed a bill banning transgender girls from girls' sports and introduced HR0177 to relocate USDA to central Illinois.
