Biography
Representative Rebecca Kislak ** represents **District 4 in Providence, Rhode Island. Elected in November 2018, she serves as second vice chair of the House Education Committee and is a member of the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, House Health and Human Services Committee, and House Innovation and Technology Committee.
She is a lawyer, advocate, and mother married to Dr. Joanna Brown, with two children. Kislak has championed public schools, health equity, economic justice, environmental protection, and common-sense gun legislation. Notable achievements include sponsoring the Rhode Island Parentage Act for inclusive family recognition, streamlining adoption laws, a 2024 law enhancing control over individualized education plans , creating a permanent commission for genocide and Holocaust education, protecting Affordable Care Act provisions at the state level, a 2025 law preserving independent pharmacies, building decarbonization efforts, restricting neonicotinoids in pesticides, and advocating for Providence Public Schools.
