Biography

Representative Rebecca Himschoot is a nonpartisan member of the Alaska State House of Representatives for District 2, representing 21 coastal communities from Yakutat to Hydaburg. A retired elementary school teacher with over 30 years of experience, she was first elected in 2022 during the 33rd Legislature and has focused on education, fisheries, rural communities, balanced budgets, and environmental issues like salmon protection. Notable achievements include sponsoring the first resolution passed in the 33rd Legislature supporting trollers against a lawsuit, leading cruise tourism planning on the Sitka Assembly, and receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator fellowship at the National Science Foundation.
