Biography
Raymond J. Crews is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 8 . A retired U.S. Air Force combat pilot with 17 years of service, USAFR retiree, airline pilot, and small business owner in aerial mapping and energy consulting, he was born in May 1966 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and has resided in Bossier Parish for over 20 years. A self-described Christian conservative, he supports pro-life policies from conception, Second Amendment rights, religious freedom, and small business growth. Notable positions include Chair of Labor and Industrial Relations and Health and Welfare committees; he also serves on the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, Special Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs, Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, Freedom Caucus, Louisiana Rural Caucus, and North Louisiana Legislative Delegation.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.S. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.
- Political Experience: Sworn in on May 10, 2017, replacing Mike Johnson ; eligible to serve through the 2024 term. Active in community roles such as past Chairman of Deacons and Sunday School Teacher at First Bossier, Provider and Community Liaison at DiAMC, and Bossier Parish homeowner.
