Biography
Raymundo Lara is a Democratic member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 34 in Doña Ana County, which includes areas such as San Miguel, La Mesa, Chamberino, La Union, Santa Teresa, and Sunland Park. He assumed office on January 15, 2019, after defeating incumbent Democrat Bealquin "Bill" Gomez in 2018, and has served three or more terms. Notable positions include Vice Chair of the House Transportation, Public Works & Capital Improvements Committee, and membership on the House Education Committee, House Committee on Economic and Rural Development and Policy, and others. His priorities focus on infrastructure, community centers and parks, education, and economic development.
Education and Political Experience
Lara holds a BA from New Mexico State University. Before politics, he worked 17 years in K-12 education as an instructional coordinator and program coordinator for Gadsden Independent Schools. He entered politics in 2018, winning election to the New Mexico House.
