Biography
Randy Novak is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 9 in Northwest Indiana, which includes Michigan City, Northern LaPorte County, and portions of Eastern Porter County. He was unanimously elected on October 18, 2025, and sworn into office on October 22, 2025, to complete the term ending November 2026 following the resignation of former Representative Pat Boy. A longtime LaPorte County resident, Novak is a former fire chief with the Michigan City Fire Department, real estate broker since 1998, and previous president of the LaPorte County Council. His priorities include supporting first responders, emergency services, workforce development, affordable housing, balanced budgets, and economic growth. Notable positions include Chairman of the LaPorte County Fire Chiefs Association, President of the LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission and Fairground Management and Event Corporation, and member of the LaPorte County 911 Advisory Board, North Central Community Action Agencies, and Indiana Fire Chiefs Association. He opposed the 2025 redistricting effort in Indiana.
