Biography
Randy A. Burckhard is a Republican state senator representing District 5 in North Dakota, based in Minot. A Minot native born in 1952 in Rugby, N.D., he is retired from SRT Communications where he served as a community relations manager and director of external affairs. He has been married to Pat with three children and nine grandchildren, and is Catholic. Burckhard announced in February 2026 that he will not seek re-election after 16 years of service, retiring at the end of his term on November 30, 2026. Notable achievements include serving as President Pro Tempore of the North Dakota Senate in 2021, past president of the Minot CVB and MSU Alumni Association, past chair of the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce, and involvement with Minot Area Development Corporation, Souris Valley United Way, Minot Task Force 21, Air Force Global Strike Command Civic Leaders, and as an honorary commander for the 91st Missile Wing. He is a member of the Minot Rotary Club and currently serves on the Minot State University Board of Regents Executive Committee.
