Biography

Ralph E. Massullo, Jr. is a Republican state senator representing Florida's Senate District 11, which comprises Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties, along with part of Pasco County. He was elected to the Florida Senate on December 9, 2025, and his current term extends through 2033.

Massullo was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, on December 25, 1956, and relocated to Florida in 1990. He is a practicing physician and has served the community for over 30 years. He is married to Patricia Lynn "Patty" and has four children: Jeremy, Alexa, Blake, and Kelin. He also has five grandchildren: Raegan, Dominic, Senna, Selah, and Winston. Massullo is an active member of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church and identifies as Christian.

Beyond his medical practice, Massullo has maintained deep community involvement. He served as a past president of the Florida Society of Dermatology Surgery and was named Surgeon of the Year in 1998. He has participated in international medical missions, served on the board of Seven Rivers Christian School, supported local charities, and co-sponsored the USA Olympic wrestling team.

Education

Massullo earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University in 1979 and an M.D. in Medicine from West Virginia University Medical School in 1985.

Political Experience

Massullo served in the Florida House of Representatives for eight years, representing District 34 from 2016 to 2022 and District 23 from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure in the House, he served on numerous committees, including the Appropriations Committee and the Education and Employment Committee, which he chaired. He was also a former chair of the PreK-12 Innovation Subcommittee.

His professional background includes founding and serving as president of Suncoast Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center since 1989. According to his public profile, during his four terms in the Florida House, he advocated for conservative priorities, including legislation to grow Florida's economy, protect individual freedoms, uphold law and order, and secure the state's borders.
