Biography
Rady Mom is an American politician and former Democratic representative for the 18th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving from 2015 to 2024. He is the first Cambodian-American elected to the Massachusetts state Legislature and the first Cambodian-American elected to any state legislature in the U.S. Mom represented areas including Lowell's Highlands and Acre neighborhoods, securing $16.3 million in funding for local projects, including $1.4 million for parks and annual increases in Chapter 70 education funds from $135 million in FY2015 to $243 million in FY2025. Notable achievements include sponsoring gun law reforms imposing 2.5 to 5 years in prison and up to $10,000 fines for intentionally shooting at dwellings, and in December 2023, filing HD.4752 for instruction on Cambodian and Vietnamese American refugee experiences, the Cambodian genocide, and Hmong history and culture.
