Biography

Rachel Khanna

Rachel Khanna was born on January 29, 1972, in Cannes, France. She became a U.S. citizen at age 22 and has been a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut for 25 years, where she lives with her husband Jaideep and their four daughters.

Beyond her political career, Khanna has diverse professional and personal accomplishments. She is a trained chef and entrepreneur who launched an organic meal delivery service in 2007 and authored two cookbooks. She is also an accomplished triathlete and active community volunteer who previously served on the Parkway School PTA board, Kids in Crisis board, and the Audubon Center board.

Education

Khanna holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bryn Mawr College and a Master's degree in Political Science from Columbia University.

Political Experience

Connecticut House of Representatives: Khanna made history in 2022 as the first Democrat elected to represent Connecticut's 149th district, which encompasses parts of Greenwich and Stamford. She defeated Republican incumbent Kimberly Fiorello. During her tenure in the State House from 2023 to 2025, she served on the Appropriations Committee, Government Administration & Elections Committee, and Transportation Committee. She secured over $100 million in funding for school construction, road safety improvements, and nonprofit services in her district.

Greenwich Representative Town Meeting: Before her election to the State House, Khanna served on the Representative Town Meeting representing District 10 from 2018 to 2021.

Current Position: Khanna currently serves as Selectwoman for the Town of Greenwich.
