Biography
R.J. Hawk is a Republican representative for Arkansas House District 81, which includes the cities of Bryant, Alexander, Shannon Hills, and portions of Benton in Saline County. Currently serving his second term in the 95th General Assembly, he works in real estate and has been involved in community charitable efforts, including fundraising for the Bryant and Central Arkansas Boys and Girls Clubs, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the American Cancer Society. Originally from Athens, Texas , he moved to Arkansas in 2004. His platform emphasizes limiting government, reducing taxes, and supporting police.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and a degree in marketing from the University of Central Arkansas; first in his family to graduate college.
- Professional Background: Played baseball at university until a knee injury; worked in sports media at 1037 The Buzz; later entered real estate with Clark & Co. Realty.
- Political Experience: Served two terms as Bryant city councilman; elected to Arkansas House District 81 in 2022 ; serves on House Public Transportation Committee, House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.
